Finishes

Transform your space

Our expertly charred wood not only enhances aesthetics but also offers low maintenance and improved fire resistance, perfect for exterior cladding and feature walls. Whether for residential or commercial projects, our innovative designs bring warmth, texture, and sophistication to any setting.

  • Thermal Ash

This is our favorite timber to char. It is thermally modified hardwood and chemical free. It gives such a unique finish to the wood.

  • Accoya

We run the Accoya through our charring machine and the finish is an alligator skin type look and feel, Accoya timber gives the most textured finish.

  • NZ Pine TMT

One our newest timber is Pine TMT which looks very stunning with its detailed char look.

  • Charred Japanese Cedar

We run the Japanese cedar through our charring machine, achieving a more subtle alligator finish.

  • Brushed Japanese Cedar

After running the Japanese cedar through the charring machine we remove all the surface charcoal to expose the stunning cedar grain.

  • Charred Siberian Larch

This is our most popular finish. The Siberian Larch is run through our charring machine and receives a beautiful intense charring finish.

  • Brushed Siberian Larch

We run the Siberian Larch through the charring machine, then remove all the charcoal from the surface by hand, leaving the gorgeous grain exposed for an elegant textural finish.

  • Double brushed

This is Siberian Larch which has been brushed twice. The charred surface produces a real contrast of light and dark grain.

Shou Sugi Ban can be done on several timbers, however, we find Japanese Cedar, Thermal Ash, Pine TMT, Accoya and Siberian Larch are the best. They have gorgeous textures and are durable. We can do a full char or a brushed look. We apply a coat of natural oil, to lock in that char.
