City Home of The Year 2024
Textured Bach
Nic Owen architects explains his award winning home as:
The beginning point for this project was to design a sculptural artwork that the owners could fabricate their lives in and around. Conceptually envisaged as a burnt, chiseled timber sculpture nestled into the side of the natural hill scape, it is a home that is multifunctional, providing space to work, rest and play.
This stunning house has over 4,000m of charred siberian larch including internal charred furniture and features. The use of different sized profiles on the cladding gives it another level of texture. We really enjoyed the challenge and new avenues we experienced on this project.
